Hiking Mt. Wakakusa and dedication of shaved ice at Himuro Shrine

Grading:

Mt.Wakakusa is a relatively low elevation mountain (342 meters to the summit), making it a popular spot for families and beginners to enjoy mountain hiking. In addition to the spectacular view of Nara City, deer can be seen everywhere, not only at the foot of the mountain but also near the observatory, which is a typical Nara sight. After descending the mountain, we will stop by Himuro Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of ice. You can eat shaved ice at the shrine, but there is no store in the shrine grounds. Himuro Shrine has a "shaved ice" which is rare in Japan. After making an application at the shrine office, shaved ice is served in place of an offering. After offering the shaved ice to the shrine and making a monetary donation, you can eat the shaved ice in return. You can pour syrup on it yourself when you eat it. The distance is about 8 km on paved paths, so even beginners can enjoy this short hike. You will also be rewarded with shaved ice, so why not come out even on a hot day?
