Low mountain hiking with good views Wakayama and Minase Falls
Wakayama, located on the border between Osaka and Kyoto, is a low mountain of 300 meters but loved by locals for its scenic view. On its ridge is a hiking trail called Taiko-no-michi, which is said to have been taken by Hideyoshi on his way to the Battle of Tennozan. Along the way, there are the ruins of Kinryuji Temple, Wakayama Shrine, and a vista point overlooking the old battlefield. After lunch at the summit, we will stop at the Minase Falls next to the Meishin Expressway tunnel. This 20-meter-high waterfall was formed by the Tennozan fault, and has long been written about in poems, and there is a record that Emperor Go-Toba also viewed it. The walking distance is about 12 km, and although the elevation is low, the mountain level is 4 because lingering summer heat is expected.
