Beginners welcome! Hiking around Pom Pom Mountain with good views
Pom-Pom Mountain is located on the border of Osaka and Kyoto. It is the highest peak in the Oinosaka Mountains of Kyoto's west Mountains. The strange name comes from the pompom sound you hear when you step on the summit. The summit commands a panoramic view of the Osaka Plain and Kyoto, and there is a rest area where visitors can enjoy the scenery and take a lunch break. The walking distance is about 7 km, and this hiking course is suitable for beginners who enjoy gentle mountain paths. After descending the mountain, visit Yoshimine Temple. This is the 20th temple of the 33 sacred places in the western part of the mountain. The Yuryu-no-matsu pine tree (a natural monument) on the temple grounds is said to resemble a dragon with its trunk extending more than 37 meters to the side. If you would like to drive to Yoshimine Temple, please let us know at the time of application.
