Low-Mountain Ridge Hike & New Year’s Gathering! Nagara Mountain to Daimonjiyama with Exquisite Chinese Cuisine

Enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Biwa and cross into Kyoto to reach Daimonjiyama! Why not join us for a ridge hike through the low mountains? The distance is about 10 km, and since the mountains are low, there’s no need to worry about snow accumulation. Starting from JR Otsukyo Station, we’ll pass through Oji-gaoka Park and head to the trail. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Lake Biwa from a terrace as you look back. From the summit of Nagara Mountain, you’ll enjoy expansive scenery and can take a short break on a bench. Continuing along the pleasant ridgeline trail, we’ll cross over Nyoi-ga-Take and arrive at Daimonjiyama, which offers excellent panoramic views. After descending slightly to the Kagaribi spot, we’ll take in the sunset. Finally, we’ll descend near Ginkakuji Temple and head toward Demachiyanagi Station, either by bus or on foot. The new year kicks off with a gathering at the Chinese restaurant *Daitoryu*, run by the Ooyama family, who are members of the Kansai Hikers! Not only can you enjoy the owner's exquisite Chinese dishes, which focus solely on flavor, but also BBQ! ※ Participation in the New Year's gathering is optional. The cost of the meal will be split equally, with those consuming alcohol paying a bit more. The event starts at 6:00 PM and will end in about 1.5 to 2 hours.
