Exhilarating! Shimanami Kaido Cycling
Cycle along the refreshing coastal roads of the Seto Inland Sea! Japan's first cyclist sanctuary, a spectacular 70km route connecting Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture and Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture, crossing six islands. With options to drop off mid-route and dedicated bike lanes, it's beginner-friendly and flexible. This plan divides the 70km journey over two days, allowing for a leisurely and scenic ride with time to explore. Rental bikes are cross bikes, with helmets and saddle covers included. Accommodation is at TOMARIGI Guesthouse on Omishima Island. Opened in 2019, this cyclist-friendly guesthouse features spacious dormitories and warm wooden interiors. The owner, a certified herbal tea coordinator, serves tea for guests. Reserved exclusively for Kansai Hikers participants, you can enjoy a private and relaxing stay. Travel to Imabari is via Orange Ferry from Osaka Nanko. The calm Seto Inland Sea ensures a smooth voyage, and private single rooms are available for all participants. For those concerned about ferry travel, alternative options like train or bus can be arranged. Travel Cost: 42,000 yen (Early registration by 3/22: 40,000 yen!) Included: Rental bike (with helmet), saddle cover, accommodation, ferry tickets, JR tickets, insurance. Not Included: Meals, bath fees
