February 22: Cat Day! Strolling Along the Wakayama Electric Railway Line
February 22 is "Nyan-Nyan-Nyan" Cat Day! Why not visit the famous cat stationmasters? Walking distance is about 5 km on paved roads, making it an easy and enjoyable outing for everyone. The Wakayama Electric Railway gained fame in 2007 with the appointment of its first feline stationmaster. Currently, three cat stationmasters are working at Kishi and Itakiso Stations. Along the railway line, you'll find Itakiso Shrine, dedicated to the god of trees, and Ashimori Shrine, dedicated to the god of feet—both appealing destinations for hikers. For lunch, enjoy pizza and pasta at Saint Zephyr, a restaurant by the Oikeyuen Pond. Their pizzas, baked in one of Japan's largest wood-fired ovens, are exceptional. Lunch includes a recommended pizza and pasta set with a drink bar. (Desserts can be ordered separately at an additional cost.) At the final stop, Kishi Station, admire the famous station building, visit Tama Shrine, or explore the nearby farmers' market. Let's make this Cat Day unforgettable together!
