Moss-Covered Northern Yatsugatake & Mountain Lodge Gourmet Hiking Tour

We will hold a hiking tour aiming for the Nyuu Summit, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, Mt. Asama, and the Northern Alps, and a hike through the fantastical moss-covered forest. The walking distance is about 8 km, with an elevation gain of 530 m. With an altitude below 2,500 m, it is a recommended course even for those who are new to high-altitude hiking. Yatsugatake mountain hut gourmet food is famous for being delicious, and on the second day, the Takamiishi Hut’s deep-fried bread is a famous delicacy loved by many hikers. Day 1: Bus Travel and Visit to Beautiful Mishaka Pond The first day is mainly bus travel. We will head to Nagano on a comfortable mid-sized bus. We will visit Mishaka Pond, which became widely famous through a SHARP commercial. The pond is known for the beautiful reflection of the trees along the shore on the water’s surface, creating an amazing view. From the Shirakoma Pond trailhead, we will walk for about 15 minutes to Shirakomaso Lodge. We will arrive early and can enjoy a walk around the lake (a 40-minute loop) or explore the moss-covered forest at our leisure. Day 2: Hiking Through the Mossy Forest and Reaching the Summit On the second day, we will hike through the primeval forest where nearly 500 species of moss grow. After passing through the forest, we will climb the steep rocky peaks and reach Nyuu Summit in about 1 hour. At the summit, we will enjoy the 360-degree panoramic view before continuing along the ridge to Mt. Nakayama. From the Nakayama Observatory, you can enjoy views of Mt. Tengudake, the Southern Alps, and Mt. Tateshina. From Mt. Nakayama, we will descend gently for about 1 hour over rocky terrain to reach Takamiishi Hut, where we will enjoy the famous deep-fried bread at a relaxed pace. Afterward, we will return to Shirakomaso Lodge, retrieve our stored luggage, and head to the trailhead to take the bus back to Kansai. Accommodation: Shirakomaso Lodge by Shirakoma Pond We will stay at Shirakomaso Lodge, which is much cleaner than a typical mountain hut and even has bathing facilities. Meals are prepared with seasonal vegetables and rice grown in their own farm. At night, you can enjoy the starry sky from the lakeside. Additional Information: Unnecessary hiking items can be left at Shirakomaso Lodge. If fewer than 20 participants register by the end of April, the event may be canceled.
