Famous Cherry Blossom Spot: Lake Biwa Canal Hiking & Mölkky Experience
Lake Biwa Canal is a waterway built in the Meiji era to channel water from Lake Biwa to Kyoto City. It was used for hydroelectric power generation and industrial water supply. Between Otsu and Keage, there are several cherry blossom viewing spots, with the Keage Incline being particularly popular for hanami. The walking distance is 12 km with some ups and downs, giving it a mountain difficulty level of 3. This historical route follows the path of those who built the canal in the past. After having lunch at Sosui Park, we will try Mölkky, a sport from Finland that is easy to learn and enjoyable for all ages, even without prior experience.
