Popular Course! Yamazakura in Full Bloom – Former Fukuchiyama Line Abandoned Railway Walk
In 1986, the Fukuchiyama Line was rerouted to its current alignment, and access to the old railway route was prohibited for a long time. However, in 2016, it was officially opened to the public as a hiking course. The trail features numerous railway relics, including tunnels and bridges, offering a nostalgic journey along the scenic Mukogawa Gorge. In spring, hikers can enjoy Yamazakura in full bloom, creating a stunning contrast with the natural surroundings. The walking distance is approximately 7.6 km. While the abandoned railway track itself is mostly flat, the Sakura Garden Trail includes a 100-meter elevation gain. After passing through several tunnels, we will walk along the Sakura Garden Trail, embracing the arrival of spring. Note: The tunnels are unlit. A headlamp or flashlight is required.
