Huge colony of one million azaleas Hiking Mt.Yamato Katsuragi
Join us for a weekday hike to Mt. Yamato-Katsuragi (960m), offering breathtaking views from the Nara Basin to Osaka! The trail is 6km long, but be prepared for a steep 750m ascent. While the course is physically demanding, there are few technical challenges, and taking regular breaks will make the climb manageable. Every May, the mountainside is covered in a spectacular display of bright red azaleas, earning the nickname "A Million Azaleas in a Single Glance." Though the mountain can also be accessed by ropeway, weekends tend to be crowded with tourists. This weekday hike offers a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery with fewer crowds.
