Sea views! Mountain trails! The Matogata Alps across 10 low peaks!
We will hold a low-mountain traverse hiking event to climb the ten peaks of the local “Matogata Alps” located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture! Even though they are called “peaks,” they are low mountains around 100 meters in elevation and can be completed in a 10 km round course. The well-maintained satoyama trail includes benches, tables, and gazebos here and there, offering a relaxing hike with views of the Seto Inland Sea. After smoothly traversing seven peaks, we will have lunch at Koniwayama, where you can feel especially close to the sea. We will take a generous break of about one hour here. There is also a restroom nearby, so no worries. After visiting the last two peaks, we’ll make a full loop back to Matogata Station and finish the hike. Note: The coastal path known as “Shosekiheki” is currently closed to the public and will not be part of this route.
