Recommended for first-time hut stays! Mt.Turugi on the traverse route
We have organized a two-day tour to Mt. Tsurugi, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and a dream destination for hikers across the country. At 1,955 meters, it is the second highest peak in western Japan, but thanks to its well-maintained trails and convenient lifts, even beginners can take on this hike! On Day 1, we will start from the Minokoshi Trailhead and slowly hike about 2 km with a 550-meter elevation gain to the summit of Mt. Tsurugi, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. We expect to arrive at the mountain hut around 3:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to rest and prepare for the ridge traverse on the following day. On Day 2, you will tackle the long-awaited ridge traverse. This 8 km route takes you over Jirogyu, past the Maruishi emergency hut, and down to the Oku-Iya Kazurabashi Trailhead. The hike will take about 6 hours, including plenty of breaks, finishing around early afternoon, after which we will head back to Osaka by bus. Accommodation: We will stay at the Tsurugisan Summit Hut, located just below the summit of Mt. Tsurugi. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the sunrise, sunset, and a star-filled night sky. Unusually for a mountain hut, this hut has a small bath area where you can pour water over yourself up to three times per person (soap and shampoo are not allowed). Mt. Tsurugi is known as one of the least light-polluted areas in Japan, providing stunning 360-degree stargazing opportunities on clear nights – said to rival even the mountains of Hawaii. Since public transportation to Mt. Tsurugi is limited and the traverse route cannot accommodate vehicle pickup, this private bus tour by Kansai Hikers offers a rare opportunity to fully explore this iconic ridge. Dates: September 6 (Saturday) - 7 (Sunday) Meeting Place: Bus Parking Lot, JR Shin-Osaka Station Main Entrance Meeting Time: 6:45 AM Participation Fee: 35,000 yen Payment Method: Cash or PayPay (collected on the bus) Included: Mountain hut (1 night, 2 meals), bento lunch on Day 2, bus fare, guide fee, insurance Not Included: Lunch on Day 1 Minimum Participants: 15 Notes: You can leave any items you won't need during the hike, as well as your change of clothes, on the bus.
