"Yamada Trail," a Fresh Green and Mossy Path, and Forest Botanical Garden Hydrangea Hiking
Yamada Trail is an old path that runs north to south through the Rokko Mountain Range. Along the sunlit mountain stream path, various types of charming moss grow in clusters. After about an hour of hiking, we’ll arrive at the Kobe Municipal Arboretum. Home to about 50,000 hydrangea bushes—one of the largest hydrangea gardens in the Kansai region—with 25 species and 350 varieties, you can enjoy the diverse floral scenery of the rainy season. We’ll have a lunch break inside the park and cool off with soft serve ice cream straight from a local farm. We’ll descend to Motomachi Station, stopping by Futatabi Park beside a scenic pond and Venus Bridge with a panoramic view of Kobe. The total hiking distance is about 12 km, on a relatively gentle trail with some ups and downs. Let’s enjoy the unique scenery of the rainy season at a relaxed pace.
