Beat the Summer Heat! Kyoto Nishiyama Ridge Hike & Beer Factory Tour

We're excited to bring you a unique summer event that combines hiking with a visit to a beer factory! Our destination is Mount Tennozan, historically known as the site of the decisive battle that shaped Japan's future. Standing at about 270 meters above sea level, this well-maintained hiking trail is suitable for families with children and older adults alike. Along the trail, you'll find ceramic panels depicting scenes from the famous battle, and the foothills of the mountain are dotted with historical and cultural landmarks. Enjoy a gentle ridge walk over four peaks: Mount Tennozan, Mount Suntory, Mount Jippou, and Mount Ogura. After reaching the final peak, we'll descend along a scenic bamboo forest path. The total walking distance is approximately 7 km, and we will take a relaxed pace considering the summer heat. After the hike, we’ll visit the Suntory Natural Water Beer Factory, which was recently renovated. You'll enjoy a 90-minute guided tour with tastings at the end. (*Juice is available for those who do not drink alcohol.) Note: If you are using the Hikers Premium Pass, there will be an additional ¥1,000 charge for the factory tour.
