The sun rises over the summit of Mt. Fuji, "Diamond Fuji" Ryugatake Hiking Tour

We will hold a hiking tour to Mt. Ryugatake in Yamanashi Prefecture, where you can see Mt. Fuji up close! “Diamond Fuji” is the phenomenon where the sun overlaps with the summit of Mt. Fuji and shines like a diamond. At Mt. Ryugatake, which is located on the west side of Mt. Fuji, from mid-December to early January, the sun rises right above Mt. Fuji, and you can see a mystical spectacular view woven by nature. The walking distance is about 6km, elevation is 1485m, and mountain level is 3. It is also recommended for beginners, and there is no concern about altitude sickness. The elevation is only found in the southern part of Nara in Kansai, and from the summit, you can enjoy a great panorama of not only Mt. Fuji, but also the blue and clear Lake Motosu spread out below, as well as Yatsugatake and the Southern Alps. What makes Kansai Hikers bus tours attractive is that it does not end with just Mt. Ryugatake! On the first day, we will go to Satta Pass, which has one of the best views on the Tokaido and is also depicted in Utagawa Hiroshige’s “Yui” from “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido.” Today, the Tokaido Main Line, Route 1, and the Tomei Expressway overlap at the foot of the pass, and it is known as a famous spot for photography with Mt. Fuji in the background. The walking distance is about 2.5km, and it is an easy short hike on a paved road that takes about one hour round trip. On the second day, after the hike, we will visit the World Heritage “Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha.” It is a shrine that was built with the purpose of worshipping Asama Okami, who resides at the bottom of Mt. Fuji’s crater, and pacifying its eruptions. After visiting, there will be free lunch time at “Omiya Yokocho,” where you can enjoy local specialties of Fujinomiya. Many shops line the street, including those serving the B-class gourmet Fujinomiya Yakisoba. Those who wish can also visit the Fujisan World Heritage Center, which is just a short walk away (separate fee required). Accommodation is at Motosuko Sports Center. It is a training facility located on the shore of Lake Motosu, with excellent access as you can walk to the trailhead. Of course, there is a bath, and towels, shampoo, and other amenities are provided. Rooms are gender-separated bunk beds. Please purchase breakfast individually at the service area the day before. You can eat before departure or at the observatory along the way. Luggage not used for hiking can be left at the accommodation. Hot water and drinks can be refilled at the accommodation. There is only one hair dryer, so please bring one if needed. There are few outlets, so please share them.
