Suma Alps “Uma no Se (Horseback Ridge)” and Suma Rikyu Park “Rose Garden of Royalty”

Grading:

At the westernmost end of Mt. Rokko lies the Suma Alps. The ridge called “Uma no Se” (“Horse’s Back”) is small but full of impact. It’s about 6 km — a short course that finishes by noon — but since there are rocky areas, the mountain level is 4. This route is also part of the Rokko Traverse Trail, crossing three peaks: from Mt. Higashi, through Uma no Se, to Mt. Yokoo and Mt. Toga. From each summit, you can enjoy wide views of the Suma coastline and pleasant ridge walking! We will descend to the vast 82-hectare urban park, Suma Rikyu Park, where the hike ends. Those who wish can enjoy lunch either at the park restaurant or in the open plaza. Café menus including pizza are also available for takeout, and since it’s a great season, eating outdoors is recommended. In the open-style European fountain garden overlooking Osaka Bay, the “Rose Garden of Royalty and Nobility” features about 180 varieties and 4,000 rose bushes. Basically, you can enjoy free exploration, but those who wish can walk around the garden together. Participation fee: 1,500 yen (plus 400 yen for Suma Rikyu Park entrance)
