Challenge Yourself with a Long-Distance Hike! Katano Mountain – Hoshi no Buranko
For those who have never walked more than 10 km but want to try a longer hike, we’re holding a special traverse event across the Ikoma Mountains! The total walking distance is about 16 km, which is quite long, but there are plenty of rest spots and scenic viewpoints along the way. You’ll enjoy a low mountain traverse with the highest point being Mt. Katano (341 m). The mountain difficulty level is 6. From Kannon Rock on the summit of Katano Mountain, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Osaka Plain, Kyoto’s western hills, and even Mt. Rokko in the distance. The course also passes through Hoshi no Buranko, a famous spot for autumn foliage. There are vending machines along the way, so you can easily replenish drinks and snacks. The hike ends at Hoshida Station, but those who wish can join a short 10-minute walk to the Hikers’ Farm, where you might get to harvest some seasonal autumn produce! (Please forgive us if the crops aren’t quite ready!)
