Famous Autumn Foliage Spots Daimonji Mountain and Bishamon-dō Monzeki Hiking
We will hold a classic hiking event that takes you through Kyoto’s famous autumn foliage spots! We’ll start by passing through the Sanmon Gate of Nanzen-ji Temple, then enjoy a 1.5 km stroll along the Philosopher’s Path, renowned for its tunnel of autumn leaves. From beside Ginkaku-ji Temple, we’ll enter the mountain trail, and after about an hour of climbing, we’ll reach the Daimonji fire platform, where the view suddenly opens up. Enjoy a panoramic view of Kyoto’s colorful autumn scenery, followed by lunch at the summit of Mount Daimonji. Our descent will take us toward Yamashina, where we’ll visit Bishamon-do Temple, famous for Bishamonten—one of the Seven Lucky Gods. In autumn, the temple grounds are adorned with vibrant foliage. The stone staircase approach leading to the “Chokushi-mon” gate is so breathtaking that it is often featured in posters. The total walking distance is about 9 km, and the mountain level is 2. Let’s take it slow, enjoy plenty of photo opportunities, and immerse ourselves in Kyoto’s autumn beauty! Participation Fee: 1,500 yen (plus 700 yen admission fee)
