Very popular course! Autumn leaves Fukuchiyama Line Abandoned Line Walk

In 1986, the current railway alignment was completed, and the old Fukuchiyama Line had long been off-limits. However, in 2016, the former JR Fukuchiyama Line abandoned track section was opened to the public as a hiking course. Along the course remain many railway relics such as tunnels and bridges. You can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves while walking along the Mukogawa River valley. You may even see bats flying inside the tunnels! The walking distance is about 7 km, and the mountain level is 1. With little elevation difference, it’s an autumn foliage hike that takes about two hours to complete. After the hike, how about having lunch at Hatakuma Shoten, famous for its game cuisine, for those who wish to join? The recommended dish is wild boar hot pot–style miso udon! It warms your body and feels amazing! There is no lighting inside the tunnels. A headlamp or flashlight is required.
