New Year's Hatsumode Project Mt. Asama Hiking and Ise Jingu Shrine

This is the second New Year's Hatsumode project! We will visit Asamadake (called Okunoin of Ise Jingu Shrine) and Naiku, and stroll around Okage Yokocho. Hiking distance is 4.2 km, about 2 hours and 30 minutes. In the Edo period, people visited Ise once in a lifetime, and it became popular to visit Ise. After visiting the shrine, people also made a pilgrimage to Asamadake Kongoshoji Temple on Mt.Asama Asakumadake Kongoshoji Temple has been called the "inner sanctuary of Ise Jingu Shrine" as a temple that protects the demon's gate of Ise Jingu Shrine since ancient times. Mt. Asama, the highest peak in Ise-Shima National Park at 555 meters above sea level, has been selected as one of the 100 most scenic spots in Japan. From the observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Ise City and Toba City, and if you are lucky, you can see Mt.Fuji. There are also many attractions such as a footbath with a view and a postbox in the sky. After the hike, we will take a bus down the mountain to visit Ise Jingu. After visiting the shrine, we will take a walk in Okage Yokocho, buy some souvenirs and have tea at Akafuku. If you wish, we will stop at Matsusaka Station and enjoy a sumptuous Matsusaka beef dinner! Please contact us if you wish to depart from Kyoto Station or Nara Station.
